A delegation led by Kenichiro Kawamoto, Japanese Mitsui and Company’s Bangladesh chairman, has recently met with chairman of the Chittagong Port Authority Rear Admiral SM Moniruzzaman in Dhaka.
Later, the delegation visited Chittagong Port on April 30 for detailed discussions, said a press release.
During this time, they met with Commodore Ahmed Amin Abdullah, board member, harbour and marine, Chittagong Port Authority, for a courtesy call and bilateral meeting.
During the meeting, Ahmed Amin Abdullah presented the recent development activities of Chittagong Port such as digitalisation, automation, record container handling, ISPS zero observation and achievement of zero waiting time to the delegation.
The meeting discussed in detail the development of the Matarbari Deep Sea Port Project and various proposals of Mitsui aimed at increasing its commercial and operational efficiency.
The delegation expressed its commitment to work together in the long term to explore the investment potential in the infrastructure development of Chittagong Port and develop the blue economy.
Mitsui’s deputy country chairman Reiji Nakanishi and deputy manager of infrastructure and energy division Md Mohaiminul Islam were also present in the delegation.
