Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) today destroyed narcotics worth Tk 83.78 crore that had been seized during anti-smuggling operations along the Cumilla and Satkhira border areas over the past three years.
According to a BGB press release, the drugs were destroyed at separate programme held at the headquarters of BGB-10 Cumilla Battalion and BGB-17 Nildumur Battalion.
In Cumilla, BGB destroyed drugs and other intoxicants worth Tk 51.83 crore that was seized after they were found abandoned during raids conducted by Cumilla Battalion and BGB-60 Sultanpur Battalion over the last three years.

In Satkhira, BGB-17 Nildumur Battalion destroyed drugs worth Tk 31.94 crore that had been seized during operations carried out between September 7, 2023, and July 11, 2026, in the border areas of Shyamnagar, Debhata, and Kaliganj.
According to the BGB, the destroyed contraband included liquor, phensedyl and other intoxicants, yaba pills, cannabis, heroin, illegal pharmaceutical products, LSD, and 2.4 kg of crystal meth, commonly known as ice.
Senior officials from the Cumilla and Satkhira district administrations, members of the judiciary, law enforcement, representative of the Department of Narcotics Control, Customs, local public representatives, and journalists were present at the events, the press release added.
