The 24th edition of the Dhaka International Film Festival, scheduled to be held from January 10 to 18, will showcase 245 films from 91 countries, including Bangladesh.

The announcement was made at a press conference held at the Dhaka Club on Thursday.


DIFF director Ahmed Muztaba Zamal, Bangladesh Tourism Board CEO Nuzhat Yasmin, filmmaker Bidhan Rebeiro, screenwriter and film critic Sadia Khalid Reeti, Dhaka Club board member Ehsanul Haque Dipu and curator Lutfa Mahmuda, among others, were present at the event.

The press conference was presided over by Rafiquzzaman, executive member of Rainbow Film Society.

The festival will open with the Chinese film The Journey to No End.

Films will be screened under nine sections, including Asian Competition, Cinema of the World, Bangladesh Panorama, Women Filmmakers, Spiritual Films and Children’s Films.

Screenings will take place at Alliance Française de Dhaka, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Bangladesh National Museum and Stamford University Bangladesh in Dhaka, as well as at Laboni Beach Point in Cox’s Bazar.

In addition, the festival will host a two-day international conference on women in cinema, a daylong masterclass, a four-day screenplay lab and a group art exhibition.

The nine-day festival, organised by Rainbow Film Society, will conclude with an awards ceremony on January 18.
