Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal on Wednesday removed newly appointed Khulna district unit convener Firoz Ahmed from his organisational post within 15 hours of announcing the committee and appointed senior joint convener Abu Jafar as acting convener.
The decision was approved by central JCD president Rakibul Islam Rakib and general secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir through an official press release.
According to the statement, Firoz Ahmed was relieved of his duties on charges of violating organisational discipline.
The organisation said Abu Jafar would carry out the responsibilities of acting convener immediately to maintain organisational dynamism and continuity.
On Tuesday night, the central JCD announced separate convening committees for the Khulna city and district units.
The 43-member Khulna city convening committee was formed with Tajim Biswas as convener, Arifur Rahman Arif as senior joint convener and Habibur Rahman Khan Biplob as member secretary.
The 30-member Khulna district convening committee was initially approved with Firoz Ahmed as convener, Abu Jafar as senior joint convener and Khan Ismail Hossain as member secretary.
Meanwhile, the central JCD also approved a new committee for the Bagerhat district unit after nearly eight years.
The committee was announced on Tuesday night with Atiqur Rahman Russell made president and Niyamul Kabir Rahul general secretary, while Sheikh Al Mamun was named organising secretary.
Other leaders in the committee include senior vice-president Shamim Sikder, vice-presidents Sheikh Maidul Islam Mintu and Rana Didar, senior joint general secretary Fakir Mohammad Habibullah Wahed Habib and joint general secretary Sheikh Fahim Shahriar Rabbi.
The central leadership directed the newly formed Bagerhat district committee to complete formation of a full committee within the next 30 days.
