Meanwhile, Hasib Al Islam has been elected president of the Dhaka University unit of Chhatra Shakti. Ferdous Aiyam has been elected general secretary, while Md Zahir Raihan has been elected organisational secretary. Speaking at the council, NCP convener Nahid Islam said the aspirations of the mass uprising were not being fulfilled. He alleged that the BNP government was not keeping its promises and had started moving towards an authoritarian path.
He called on everyone to work together to implement the verdict of the national referendum. NCP member secretary Akhter Hossain said the government had moved away from reforms without implementing the referendum verdict. He alleged that increasing the marks for viva voce in the Public Service Commission had created an opportunity to appoint people based on party affiliation.
