The Election Commission (EC) formally requested the Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh (CAG) to conduct an IT audit of the National Identity Registration Wing’s IT system.

The EC sought the CAG’s intervention regarding the matter through a letter sent on Monday.

The commission had previously written to the CAG regarding the audit, and although a committee was formed, no further progress was made, according to the latest letter signed by EC programmer (information management) Md Salim ul Alam.

Earlier, on June 10, the EC also wrote to the Bangladesh Computer Council, requesting Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing (VAPT) of its servers and applications. The aim was to identify potential risks and implement remedial actions to strengthen cybersecurity in the voter registration system.
