National Citizen Party alleged that a vehicle carrying its chief coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary and his associates came under attack in Benapole on Wednesday.
The alleged attack was carried out while he was returning from a visit to a border area following recent reports of alleged push-in attempts by Indian Border Security Force.
The police, however, denied the allegation.
According to the NCP, the incident took place around 1:15pm while Nasirruddin Patwary was returning from a visit to the Sadipur border.
The party claimed that Khan Miftahul Mostafiz and Taskin Ahmed of Chhatra Shakti, along with Rupam Ahsan of Juba Shakti, were injured in the attack.
The party leaders said that unidentified people hurled bricks at Patwary’s motorcade near the Benapole Checkpoint crossing.
In his verified Facebook account, Patwary wrote that the delegation had visited the border area, spoken with the local people, and gathered on-the-spot information about the situation.
‘On our way back, our vehicle came under attack, and four people were injured,’ he further wrote, adding that the group remained safe overall.
He also shared a photograph that showed a broken vehicle windowpane.
Benapole port police station officer-in-charge Ashraf Hossain, however, told New Age that no such incident took place under his jurisdiction.
No one has filed any complaint either, he added.
