State minister for fisheries and livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku on Sunday said that the government had set a target to export high-quality livestock products to the international market after meeting domestic demands.
‘Our main objective is to export livestock products to international markets after fulfilling local requirements. This export will significantly boost the national economy and accelerate the overall development of the country,’ he said.
The state minister made the remarks while speaking as chief guest at a function at the cargo village of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, marking the country’s first-ever export of hatching eggs to Nigeria.
He said, ‘Prime minister has directed to transform every sector of the country into export-oriented ones. Under her visionary leadership, the fisheries and livestock sector will gradually emerge as a robust export-driven industry.’
Terming the inaugural consignment as a milestone, the state minister noted that it opened up new horizons for the diversification of Bangladesh’s export basket.
‘When Bangladesh successfully exports products after satisfying its own domestic demand, it reflects our national capability. This is not merely a commercial venture, but a prestigious international recognition of our livestock industry,’ he added.
The state minister expressed optimism that the volume of such exports would expand further in the future, playing a pivotal role in earning foreign exchange.
Livestock services department director general Md Shahzaman Khan spoke at the function as special guest.
Private enterprise of the country, Kazi Farms Limited, is exporting the inaugural batch of 10,440 parent hatching eggs to Nigeria, valued at $18,729.
The exported items are of the Ross 308 broiler breed.
