The International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) held the "Dhaka Bank Presents IUBAT Career Festival 2025" on Saturday.
The day-long event ran from 9am to 5pm on the campus. More than 130 local and international organisations took part in the fest.
The festival was organised by the university's Branding and Public Relations Office to support students entering the job market. This year's event recorded the highest level of participation, scale and recruitment activity.
Leading corporates, banks, telecom firms, e-commerce companies, IT service providers, healthcare institutions, manufacturing groups, hospitality brands, NGOs and agribusiness firms joined the event. International companies, multinational firms and overseas employment organisations were also present.
Thousands of students, graduates and jobseekers visited the booths. Employers offered more than 1,200 vacancies and carried out CV collection, screening, written tests, group discussions and interviews.
The aim was to connect students directly with employers so they could understand job market demands, skill needs, job responsibilities and future career paths. Students said they gained a clearer sense of their strengths and areas for improvement after speaking with HR professionals.
HR representatives advised students on CV writing, interview preparation, job role selection and adapting to corporate culture. Some students received preliminary offers, while others were shortlisted for next-stage assessments. Interest was high in IT, banking, digital marketing, data analytics, hospitality and engineering.
A series of 10 career sessions were held by HR experts. They covered employment trends, the value of internships, CV and cover letter writing, interview confidence, corporate etiquette, communication, leadership, teamwork, digital skills and new opportunities linked to Artificial Intelligence. Students said the sessions broadened their understanding of career planning.
In the afternoon, a panel discussion brought together corporate leaders, entrepreneurs and HR professionals. They discussed the employment landscape, evolving corporate needs, skill gaps, closer academia–industry collaboration and values such as ethics and transparency. Panel members said practical skills, mindset and experience are essential for long-term success.
On-the-spot interviews were one of the major highlights. Companies interviewed candidates in blocks, seminar rooms and booth areas. Many students experienced their first corporate interview on campus. Faculty, staff and volunteers supported the recruitment work.
IUBAT has long focused on student employability through recruitment drives, internships and corporate partnerships. The festival strengthened this link by allowing employers to see students' potential and assess the university's training. Students said the event gave them a realistic view of job market expectations and guided them toward skills such as digital literacy, communication, teamwork, problem-solving and time management.
Speaking about the festival, IUBAT Treasurer Professor Selina Nargis said, "In the 21st century, students must move beyond textbook-based learning and advance through practical experience, research, technology, and skills. Direct interaction with the corporate world is vital for employability and career growth. IUBAT continues to create such opportunities to empower students. Events like this enhance confidence, develop skills, and open real doors to professional life. IUBAT is committed to offering even broader and stronger career opportunities in the days ahead."
The festival marked another step in IUBAT's work to prepare skilled and confident graduates for Bangladesh and beyond.
