A young man was killed on Friday afternoon after being run over by a truck in Golapganj, Sylhet, police said.

The accident occurred at about 3:30pm near the Government MC Academy.

The deceased, Shanaj Ahmed, 25, son of Makhan Mia of village Sripur Rampasha in Bishwanath, worked as a driver for a poultry farm in Sylhet city.

According to eyewitnesses and police, Shanaj had attended a gathering in Phulbari Purbo Para, Golapganj, and was returning on another person’s motorcycle. Approaching the Government MC Academy, he lost control of the bike, hit a divider, and fell under an oncoming truck, dying instantly at the scene.

Golapganj Model Police and fire service teams later reached the site, completed the formalities, and took the body to Golapganj Model Police Station.

Golapganj Model Police sub-inspector Anupam confirmed the incident.
