The High Court today granted bail to former ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, also known as Chandan Kumar Dhar, in two more cases.

However, he cannot be released from jail as he remains arrested in two other cases.

The bench of Justice KM Zahid Sarwar and Justice Sheikh Abu Taher delivered the verdict after holding hearings on two separate petitions filed by Chinmoy seeking bail in the cases.

The cases were filed with Kotwali Police Station in Chattagram on November 26, 2024 on charges of vandalism and preventing police from discharging duties.

Chinmoy’s lawyer Apurba Kumar Bhattacharya told The Daily Star that Chinmoy, who has been in jail since November 25, 2024, has been accused in six cases, including murder and sedition.

He has so far secured bail in five cases from the High Court and lower courts concerned.

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has, however, stayed a High Court order granting him bail in the sedition case, the lawyer added.

Deputy Attorney General Md Monzurul Alam Sujan represented the state during the hearing of the petitions.
