Bangladesh are set to send an almost full-strength national team to the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi, Japan, running from September 24 to October 3, with several national team players likely to feature.

“We initially planned to name a decent team comprising national team and other close-to-national-team players. But after seeing the Indian side, we will try to name the best possible side,” selector Nadif Chowdhury told The Daily Star, adding that injury-hit Mustafizur Rahman could also be included.

India have already named a formidable squad featuring Shreyas Iyer, Jasprit Bumrah, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Abhishek Sharma, while Pakistan have picked a side including Sahibzada Farhan, Abrar Ahmed among other known faces.

Bangladesh, who won gold at the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou before bagging bronze in the 2014 and 2022 editions, will enter the tournament directly in the quarterfinals, facing the winners of Group B -- Hong Kong, Malaysia or Oman -- on September 29.
