Former shuttler-turned-organiser Jubaidur Rahman Rana was elected unopposed as the secretary general of the Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) for the 2025–2029 term, as the organisation's sixth Annual General Meeting and elections were held at a hotel in Cox's Bazar on Sunday.

Jubaidur previously headed the Search Committee formed within the sports fraternity after the political changeover on August 5, 2024. Based on that committee's recommendations, the National Sports Council (NSC) constituted ad-hoc committees for 53 sports federations, giving him a prominent role in shaping sports administration over the past year.

Alongside the secretary general, five vice presidents, the treasurer and 25 executive committee members were also elected unchallenged. Elections were required only for the three posts of deputy secretary general.

With Mohammad Amzad Hossain elected unopposed from the non-Olympic disciplines, three candidates contested the two posts allocated for Olympic disciplines: Bangladesh Boxing Federation general secretary MA Kuddus Khan, Bangladesh Swimming Federation general secretary Mahbubur Rahman Shahin, and Bangladesh Archery Federation general secretary Tanvir Ahmed. Tanvir was the one to miss out, with Kuddus and Shahin winning the two seats.

BOA president General Waker-Uz-Zaman, elected in October 2024, will also remain in office through 2029 after the AGM approved the extension of his tenure to align with that of the newly elected committee.

The meeting also endorsed the inclusion of the Bangladesh Racket Squash Federation as an Olympic discipline under BOA's umbrella. In financial matters, the AGM approved BOA's estimated Tk 28 crore budget for 2025–26 and also accepted the audited financial report for 2024–25, amounting to more than Tk 10 crore.
