Eid ul-Adha has always been a big occasion for Bangladeshi cinema. This year, the holiday once again brings a mix of action, romance, and stories that promise something for every kind of viewer. Eight films are set to release today across 181 cinema halls, including  “Rockstar”, “Roid”, “Malik”, “Bonolota Sen”, “Masud Rana”, “Pinik”, “Tochhonchh” and “Officer”.

Some of the films are showing in both single-screen and multiplex halls. Others are multiplex-only. Among all the releases, Shakib Khan’s “Rockstar” has claimed the highest number of screens.

Rockstar 
“Rockstar” is showing in 103 halls — the highest of any film this Eid. The count includes both single-screen and multiplex venues. Directed by Azman Rusho, the film stars Shakib Khan alongside Sabila Nur, Tangia Zaman Methila and Sunidhi Nayek.

Malik
“Malik” has secured the second-highest release, running in 32 halls across single-screen and multiplex venues. Directed by Saif Chandan, the film stars Arefin Shuvoo and Bidya Sinha Mim. The story follows a man who rises to become a powerful figure in the criminal underworld while fighting to defend his mother’s honour.

Roid
Mejbaur Rahman Sumon, the director behind the widely celebrated “Hawa”, returns with “Roid”. The film is showing in 11 multiplex halls. It tells the story of a man named Sadhu and his mentally ill wife as they struggle through life together. The cast includes Mostafizur Noor Imran, Nazifa Tushi, Gazi Rakayet and Ahsabul Yamin Riad, among others.

Bonolota Sen
Made with government funding, “Bonolota Sen” is running in 8 multiplex halls this Eid. Directed by Masud Hasan Ujjal, the film weaves together reality and allegory. The film stars Masuma Rahman Nabila in the title role, while Khairul Basar portrays poet Jibanananda Das. The cast also includes Gazi Rakayet, Shohel Mondol, Naziba Basher, Priyontee Urbee, Maimuna Momo, Ruponty Akid and Sharif Siraj.

Masud Rana
Directed by Saikat Nasir, “Masud Rana” is running in 4 multiplex halls. The film stars Russell Rana, Puja Chery and Syeda Tithi Ommi.

Pinik
“Pinik” stars Shobnom Bubly and Aador Azad and is directed by Zahid Jewel. The film is currently showing in 3 multiplex halls.

Directed by Badiul Alam Khokon, “Tochhonchh” is showing in 10 halls this Eid. The film pairs Bobby Haque with Munna Khan. The cast includes Deepa Khandakar, Misha Sawdagor, Tanvir Tanu, Shiba Sanu, Subrata, Maruf Akib and Borda Mithu.

Officer
Also directed by Badiul Alam Khokon, “Officer” stars Mahiya Mahi and D A Tayeb. The film is showing in 10 halls this Eid.
