Two Bangladeshis, including a college student were killed in firing by the Indian Border Security Force on early Saturday as they reportedly entered Dhajanagar-Pathariadar area, which is 200 yard inside the Indian territory, along the Kasba border in Bangladesh’s Brahmanbaria.
The deceased are Md Morsalin, 20, a resident of village Dhajanagar of Kasba upazila, and Nabir Hossain, 55, a resident of village Madhupur under the same upazila and both of them died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in India, Border Guard Bangladesh 60 Battalion confirmed it in a press release to Media on Saturday citing the Indian BSF.
Local people said that Md Morsalin was a second-year student of Higher Secondary Certificate level of Gopinathpur Al-haj Shah Alam Degree College in Kasba.
The BGB release said that 15 Bangladeshi smugglers entered 200 yard inside India with the help of Indian smugglers.
‘When the smugglers were returning to Bangladesh with smuggled goods, BSF 49 Battalion created obstacles and they started scuffing and rustling with the BSF members. BSF opened two rounds of pellets on them,’ the BGB release said, adding that BSF took two injured to a hospital where they breathed their last.
BGB said that they were working to bring back the bodies of the two Bangladeshis and sent a protest note to the BSF.
BGB also said that the process for holding a flag meeting was underway.
According to the BGB, the deceased were reportedly involved in smuggling.
