The Ministry of Science and Technology will host the Bangladesh Innovation Fair 2026 from September 12 to 14 at Dhaka's Novo Theatre, bringing together innovators, industry, and investors under one roof.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will inaugurate the three-day event, which aims to bridge local innovations with policy support and market opportunities.
At a press briefing in Dhaka on Thursday, Science and Technology Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam said connecting the ideas of young and seasoned innovators with policymakers, industries, and investors would help drive the national economy forward, strengthening the country's innovation ecosystem by uniting key stakeholders on a single platform.
The fair will bring together researchers, students, startups, universities, multinational corporations, government bodies, NGOs, SME entrepreneurs, incubators, and investors. More than 100 individual innovators and startup founders will showcase over 1,000 innovations, with participation from 73 public and private universities as well as leading commercial banks and corporate houses.
The event will feature 17 sessions - six plenaries, six parallel sessions, and five roundtables. A highlight of the second day is a special health session, "Health Innovation for All: Expanding Access to Affordable and Inclusive Care," expected to be attended by the Prime Minister's spouse, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, as the chief guest.
Bangladesh Bank, the National Board of Revenue (NBR), and the Department of Patents, Designs and Trademarks (DPDT) are serving as policy partners to protect intellectual property and drive commercialisation, while UNDP is the technical partner and FICCI the strategic partner.
Organisers say the fair will foster collaboration among innovators, government, academia, and industry, fast-tracking market pathways for local innovations.
Md. Anwar Hossain, Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology, was also present at the briefing.
