Hollywood actor Mark Ruffalo used his appearance at the 83rd Golden Globe Awards to sharply criticise former US President Donald Trump, calling him the “worst human being” amid protests over recent events in the United States.

Ruffalo, who attended the ceremony as a nominee for his performance in “Task” on HBO Task, wore a “Be Good” pin on the red carpet to honour Renee Nicole Macklin Good, who was fatally shot by an US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent in Minneapolis last week. The symbolic pin was part of an effort by celebrities to draw attention to the killing and broader concerns about immigration enforcement.

Speaking to the media, Ruffalo said he could not remain silent in light of recent events and accused Trump of moral failings. “The guy is a convicted felon. He’s the worst human being. If we’re relying on this guy’s morality for the most powerful country in the world, then we’re all in a lot of trouble,” Ruffalo said, framing his comments as a tribute to Renee Good and others affected by violence.

The actor also criticised other political figures, including JD Vance, for their responses to the incident and expressed concern about the United States’ direction under leadership he described as lacking respect for international law and basic humanity.

The moment drew significant attention on social media, with some praising Ruffalo’s stance and others reacting critically. Celebrities such as Wanda Sykes also participated in the “Be Good” gesture at the event, underscoring a growing trend of entertainers using high-profile platforms to highlight social and political issues.
