A drug trafficker has been arrested with 41 bottles of foreign liquor worth nearly Tk 2 lakh in an operation conducted by the Coast Guard in Shyamnagar, Satkhira. The arrestee has been identified as Md Shafikul Islam, 41.

The information was confirmed on Friday, by Coast Guard West Zone Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Md Muntasir Ibne Mohsin.

He said that, acting on a tip-off, the Coast Guard Station Kaikhali carried out a special operation at around 7:00 pm on Thursday, 8 January, in the West Kaikhali adjacent area under Shyamnagar Police Station in Satkhira. During the operation, one drug trafficker was arrested along with 41 bottles of foreign liquor valued at Tk 1.845 lakh.

He added that the process of taking legal action against the seized liquor and the arrested individual is currently underway. He further stated that the Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future to protect the younger generation from the menace of drugs.
