A fire has broken out at an old building in Dhaka’s Mohakhali, sending thick plumes of black smoke into the sky.
The Fire Service received reports of the incident around 11:15am on Thursday, said Khaleda Yasmin, duty officer at the control room.
She said the fire sparked at a building near the former British American Tobacco office behind SKS Shopping Mall.
“Three firefighting units have gone there. It will take a little more time to get further details,” Yasmin said.
The smoke could be seen from a distance.
There was no immediate information on what caused the fire or whether anyone had been hurt.
