Google has completed its $32 billion acquisition of Wiz, a cloud and AI security platform, in a move aimed at strengthening its cloud security capabilities.
In a recent blog, the company said Wiz will become part of Google Cloud while continuing to operate under its existing brand and maintaining its support for customers across multiple cloud environments. Wiz provides a security platform designed to monitor cloud environments and software code in order to detect vulnerabilities and respond to potential threats.
Google said the combination of Wiz’s technology with its own cloud infrastructure and AI capabilities would allow the companies to develop a unified security platform designed to help organisations identify, prevent and respond to cyber threats more quickly. The platform would also help customers detect new risks created by AI models, protect AI systems from attacks and use AI to assist security professionals in identifying potential breaches, as per Google.
According to Google, Wiz products will remain available across major cloud platforms including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud, in addition to Google’s own services. Wiz’s platform is used by a range of multinational companies and organisations, including Shell, BMW, LVMH, Morgan Stanley and Salesforce. The company says roughly half of the firms in the Fortune 100 use its technology.
Google first approached Wiz in 2024 with an offer to acquire the cybersecurity startup for $23 billion, but the company declined the proposal at the time. Acquisition discussions resumed in the early months of 2025, and Google announced in March of that year that it would acquire Wiz in a deal valued at $32 billion.
The transaction was completed after receiving regulatory clearance from authorities in both the United States and the European Union. The deal was approved by U.S. regulators in November 2025 and by European Union regulators in February 2026 following antitrust reviews.
