Inspector General of Police Md Ali Hossain Fakir today met Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin to discuss law enforcement preparations ahead of the local government elections.

“We discussed preparations for the local government elections. We also discussed forming a law enforcement cell in coordination with the commission,” the IGP told reporters after the meeting.

The meeting began around 1:45pm at the Election Commission headquarters in Agargaon, Dhaka.

The IGP said the commission had asked police to prepare a report on the law and order situation ahead of the elections.

The report will be submitted to the commission within one or two days, he added.
