A mobile court fined two private hospitals for keeping expired medicines at Chatkhil in Noakhali on Wednesday.
Chatkhil upazila nirbahi officer and executive magistrate Mizanur Rahman led the drive and fined Chatkhil Shishu Hospital and Nabajatak Shishu Hospital in the district.
The Chatkhil Shishu Hospital was fined Tk 50,000 after expired medicines were found in its pharmacy. The court also ordered a one-year imprisonment in default of payment.
Nabajatak Shishu Hospital was fined with Tk 20,000 after expired medicines were fined in its operation theatre. The court ordered a 15-day imprisonment in default.
The hospital authorities paid the fine immediately, said the mobile court officials.
Mizanur said that the upazila administration would continue such drives.
Chatkhil upazila health complex’s health officer Shahidul Ahmed Nayan and law enforcement members were present during the drive.
