NRBC Bank PLC organised its Barishal Zone Town Hall Meeting 2026 at the Barishal Club on Saturday.
Md Ali Hossain Prodhania, chairman of the bank, inaugurated the meeting as the chief guest, according to a press release.
Addressing the gathering, he said the board of directors is working to strengthen good governance, transparency and accountability across the bank. To ensure discipline in operations, the bank has undertaken the necessary forensic audit initiatives.
He said NRBC Bank, as a fourth-generation lender, now ranks among the country’s leading banks in several key performance indicators, posting consistent growth in performing assets, operating income and operating profit.
He stressed the need to expand loan disbursement, strengthen loan recovery and scale up microfinance activities to unlock the bank’s growth potential.
Ali Hossain also underscored the importance of promoting Bangla QR, digital banking services, particularly the newly introduced e-loan facilities, and remittance services.
Md Touhidul Alam Khan, managing director and CEO, presided over the meeting and said the bank’s branches and sub-branches in the Barishal region have strong potential to increase non-interest-bearing and low-cost deposits.
He urged officials to strengthen the bank’s retail and small deposit base while ensuring the recovery of non-performing loans to improve profitability.
Referring to the government’s drive towards a cashless economy, he said Bangla QR has been mandatory since July 1 under the “One Nation, One QR” initiative. He called on officials to expand NRBC Bank’s Bangla QR service to roadside tea stalls and other small businesses.
Among others, Md Nurul Haque, chairman of the risk management committee; Muhammad Emdad Ullah, chairman of the audit committee; Md Abul Bashar and Md Anwar Hossain, independent directors; Md Shaheen Howlader, deputy managing director and chief business officer; and Md Abdul Halim, head of the Khulna and Barishal zones, also attended the meeting.
