A local BNP leader in Netrokona has been expelled from the party following his arrest with cocaine in Dhaka.

The expelled leader, Saifuzzaman Kajal, was a member of Kalmakanda upazila unit BNP.

The decision was announced today in a press release signed by Netrokona District BNP General Secretary Rafiqul Islam Hilali.

According to the release, Kajal was expelled from all party posts, including his primary membership, over allegations of breaching party discipline, engaging in anti-organisational activities, and acting against the party’s policies and ideals.

On April 14, members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested Kajal from Dhaka’s Uttara area with 480 grammes of cocaine.

“Anyone involved in drugs or any other criminal activities will face organisational action, regardless of how influential they are. There is no place for such people in the BNP,” Hilali said.
