Filmmaker Raihan Rafi has officially announced “Surongo 2”, confirming the return of Afran Nisho as the popular character Masud. The announcement was made through a Facebook post, generating excitement among fans of the 2023 blockbuster.

According to the announcement, the hit duo of Afran Nisho and Raihan Rafi will reunite for the sequel, which promises a “bigger, bolder and more thrilling” new chapter in the story. The film is being produced by SVF Alpha-i Entertainment and is set to become a major expansion of the Raihan Film Universe.

Sharing the first-look announcement, Raihan Rafi wrote, “Official Announcement! Surongo Masud is back!” signalling the return of one of contemporary Bangladeshi cinema’s most talked-about characters.

Released in 2023, “Surongo” marked Afran Nisho’s big-screen debut and became both a commercial and critical success. The film’s gripping narrative and Nisho’s performance as Masud earned widespread acclaim, leading to growing speculation about a sequel in recent months.

With the official confirmation now in place, audiences can look forward to seeing Masud’s story continue on an even larger scale.

“Surongo 2” is slated for release in cinemas in December 2026.
