The short film “The Silent Echo”, produced by Dhaka-based production house Goopy Bagha Productions Limited, has been released on the video streaming platform Nowness Asia. The film is available for audiences to watch free of charge.
Co-produced by Bangladesh, India, Nepal and France, the Nepali-language short film was directed by Indian filmmaker Suman Sen. The story was co-written by Sen and Bijon Imtiaz.

The film revolves around four teenage boys from a remote mountain village in Nepal. According to Goopy Bagha Productions Limited, the film, completed in 2021, has been screened in more than 20 countries, selected at over 80 international film festivals, and has won 15 awards.
Set in the remote Mustang region of Nepal, the story follows four boys who turn an abandoned bus into a rehearsal room as they prepare to take part in a band competition. Despite various obstacles, they continue to chase their dreams with determination.

The cast members are non-professional actors who grew up in Lo Manthang, Mustang. They were selected through auditions involving nearly 100 children from refugee camps and schools around Pokhara.

Director Suman Sen said the children are the soul of the film. “They express emotions through silence. I did not have to direct them; an invisible bond formed between us,” he said.Sen is currently busy with his first feature-length film titled “Eka”, a joint production between India, Australia and France.
