The Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami-led alliance on Friday demanded immediate steps to resolve the allegations of irregularities it had brought regarding the results of some constituencies in the national elections held Thursday.

Amir of Jamaat Shafiqur Rahman brought the allegations at a press briefing after a meeting of the alliance held at Jamaat’s central office at Mogbazar in Dhaka.

The election was fair but manipulations happened in the results of some constituencies, he alleged.

Without naming the party, Shafiqur also alleged that a large political party that won the polls had started attacking leaders and activists of the Jamaat-led alliance across the country.

He called on the Election Commission to take measures to immediately resolve the vote counting irregularities in some seats and also to stop attacks on their leaders and activists.

‘Or else, we will wage nationwide movement,’ the Jamaat amir warned.

The issues were also discussed at a meeting of the party’s central executive council held at its central office at Moghbazar with the amir in chair, he said.

Bangladesh Kheelafat Majlish amir Mamunul Haque, National Citizen Party convener Nahid Islam also spoke at the press briefing.
