The official logo unveiling ceremony for the International Migrant Theatre Festival, titled "Obhibaser Natok 2026," took place on January 4 at 6pm at the Jewish Center in Jackson Heights, Queens, New York. The event was initiated by the Theatre Support Group, a virtual platform for Bengali immigrant theatre artistes, and was organised in collaboration with New York-based theatre groups and performers.

The ceremony began with the collective performance of the song "Anandaloke Mangalaloke". Shortly after, tributes were offered to all the late theatre personalities, including two Bengali theatre icons who passed away in 2024. Dr Farooq Azam delivered a written condolence message, followed by a tribute session led by Syed Zakir Ahmed Roni and Ajaz Alam.

International Communication and Coordinator Shamsul Alam Bakul provided details about the formation of the Theater Support Group. Currently, the group includes 32 theatre organisations and 131 theatre practitioners representing seven countries.

A poster exhibition of plays was held by this virtual group on March 27, 2022. A total of 175 posters from 10 countries were displayed in this exhibition. The convener of the festival team, Mohammad Kabir, then officially announced the theatre festival.

Festival Secretary Abir Alamgir announced that the festival is scheduled to take place from October 9 to 12, 2026. The event is anticipated to feature 16 teams from five countries and will include a council session, seminars, and theatre workshops.

The festival logo was then formally unveiled, with artist Mithun Ahmed presenting it to the festival convener and secretary. To conclude the event, Basunia Suman performed an excerpt from the play "Nuruldiner Sara Jibon".
