Windrose, the co-operative pirate survival game, will launch in early access on April 14, following strong interest during recent public testing.
The early access of the game will be available on Steam, the Epic Games Store and Stove, priced at USD 29.99. On steam, the developers acknowledged that they will increase the price of the game once they release the full version.
Developed by Windrose Crew, the title combines open-world exploration with survival mechanics and online co-operative play. Players can sail the seas alone or with friends, managing a shared ship and engaging in both ship-to-ship battles and boarding combat.
In the early access, the game features a world supported by more than 90 handcrafted locations, including dungeons, temples and shipwrecks. Combat spans ranged and melee weapons, with players facing rival crews, mythical creatures and boss encounters.
Alongside combat, Windrose includes systems for farming, fishing, crafting, trading and base-building. Players can also recruit non-player characters (NPCs) to join their crew, while a reputation system tracks in-game decisions and progression.
The game has been wishlisted more than 1.5 million times on Steam.
Windrose Crew said the game is expected to remain in early access for around 1.5 to 2.5 years, during which it plans to expand the world with additional biomes, ships, enemies and gear, as well as potentially new gameplay systems. The full experience is expected to take 50 to 70 hours to complete.
