Two leaders of Juba Dal, the youth wing of the ruling Bangladesh Nationalist Party, have been expelled over their alleged involvement in snatching and opening a tender box at the Rajshahi Development Authority office on Tuesday morning in the presence of police.
The expelled leaders are Rajshahi metropolitan Juba Dal’s 18 no ward (south) convener Md Dhalu, and 16 no ward Juba Dal joint convener Azizul Islam.
A statement issued by Masudul Haque Mridha Momin, attached to the metropolitan unit office, on late Tuesday said that the two leaders were expelled from the party.
‘Their primary memberships have been cancelled for breaching the organisation’s discipline and ideals.’
The statement said that they were involved in creating disorder during a tender process at RDA office, allegedly using muscle power under the influence of their political identity.
The organisation also said that it would not take responsibility for any activities of the expelled leaders and instructed party members at all levels to refrain from maintaining organisational ties with them.
It further urged law enforcement agencies to take necessary legal action in connection with the incident.
Earlier on Tuesday morning, a group of leaders and activists of Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal and Juba Dal allegedly snatched and opened a tender box at the Rajshahi Development Authority office.
The incident took place at about 9:30am, and the tender box was recovered within minutes from the fourth floor of the building, officials said.
