The Cabinet Division has banned the use of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's photograph on banners, festoons and billboards prepared for government events.
The directive was issued in a circular today signed by Cabinet Division Deputy Secretary Tania Afroz.
According to the circular, the prime minister's photograph cannot be used on banners, festoons or billboards prepared for government events, whether in 3D or any other form.
It said the subject of the event must be given priority in the design of banners, festoons and billboards for government programmes, with only necessary and relevant information included.

The design of festoons and billboards must clearly reflect the objective, message and theme of the event, the circular added.
Describing the matter as "very important", the circular said the directive would take effect immediately.
