Skipper Fahima Khatun produced a superb all-round display to steer Bangladesh Women’s ‘A’ team to a commanding 54-run victory over Pakistan in the second semifinal of the Asia Cup Rising Stars Women’s in Bangkok on Friday.

At the Terdthai Cricket Ground, Fahima struck an unbeaten 40 off 32 balls to help Bangladesh post 110 for eight in their allotted 20 overs after being sent in to bat first. Sarmin Sultana was the next highest scorer with 15, while Pakistan’s Hafsa Khalid claimed two wickets.

In reply, Pakistan lost wickets at regular intervals against a disciplined Bangladeshi bowling attack. Fahima also shone with the ball, returning figures of 2-6 from three overs, while Sanjida Akter Meghla delivered an outstanding spell of 3-6 as Bangladesh bowled Pakistan out for just 56 in 16.4 overs to complete a comprehensive win.

Bangladesh will now face India in the final at the same venue on Sunday. Earlier in the day, India defeated Sri Lanka by five wickets in the first semifinal.

Previously known as the ACC Women’s T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup, the tournament was first held in Hong Kong in 2023, where India defeated Bangladesh in the final.
