Harry Styles has earned a Guinness World Record after completing a record-breaking 12-show residency at Wembley Stadium, surpassing Coldplay’s previous record of 10 consecutive concerts at the iconic London venue.
The singer was presented with the honour for the longest concert residency by a solo artist or group at Wembley in a single run. Guinness World Records adjudicator Will Munford described the achievement as “a testament to the scale, ambition and cultural impact” of Styles’ live performances and his connection with fans.
Styles concluded the London leg of his “Together, Together” tour on Saturday, capping off a series of 12 sold-out shows attended by tens of thousands of fans.
During the final concert, attended by around 80,000 people, the singer reflected on his journey and paid tribute to his former One Direction bandmates.
“I wouldn’t be on this stage if it wasn’t for four friends of mine that were a massive part of this journey,” he told the audience.
“I wanna thank Niall, Louis, Zayn and my dear friend Liam for these nights and everything that I learned in this time, the friendship, everything… none of this would be possible. I wouldn’t be here without you.”
One Direction was formed on the television talent show “The X Factor” in 2010 before going on an indefinite hiatus in 2016. Former bandmate Liam Payne died in 2024 at the age of 31.
Styles also reflected on returning to Wembley, where “The X Factor” was filmed 16 years ago.
“Sixteen years ago… just outside of this building… I was put into a band that changed my life,” he said, adding that every return to Wembley brings back memories from that period.
The singer launched his solo career in 2017 and has since won six Brit Awards, three Grammy Awards and two Ivor Novello Awards. His fourth studio album, “Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally”, was released in January.
Ahead of the final show, Wembley Stadium unveiled a commemorative banner celebrating the milestone. In a post on X, the venue wrote: “12 shows. One record. A place in Wembley history.”
The Wembley residency was initially scheduled for six concerts before being expanded to 12 because of overwhelming demand. During the current tour, London remains Styles’ only UK stop. Other artists to have staged extended Wembley residencies include Taylor Swift, who performed eight shows there in 2024.
Following the record-breaking achievement, Styles’ mother, Anne Twist, shared a heartfelt tribute on social media alongside childhood photographs of the singer.
“How could I have possibly known then that he would break records doing exactly what he was put in this world to do, that he would grow up being the kind of man the world needs right now,” she wrote.
After completing the UK leg of the tour, Styles will continue with performances in Brazil, Mexico, the United States and Australia, where the tour is scheduled to conclude in December.
