Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Md Shafiqul Islam Khan has instructed city officials to prioritise mosquito control, waste management, and preparations to tackle waterlogging as monsoon is approaching.

Speaking at a meeting with zonal executive officers today at Nagar Bhaban, Shafiqul said that while routine activities of the corporation must continue, special attention must be given to these three critical areas to transform Dhaka into a cleaner and greener city.

He directed officials to ensure mosquito control operations are carried out three times a day and ordered strict supervision to confirm that all measures are being implemented properly. He also stressed the need for regular cleaning of drains and canals and for monitoring the city to prevent indiscriminate dumping of waste on streets.

Shafiqul emphasised that officers should not limit themselves to office work, but be present in the field daily at designated times to identify problems, take initiative, and ensure DNCC personnel are performing their duties effectively.

He highlighted the importance of advance preparations in areas prone to waterlogging, including Airport Road and Mirpur Road. Regular canal and drain cleaning, he noted, would not only ease waterlogging during heavy rains but also reduce mosquito breeding, providing significant relief to city residents.

The administrator called for a coordinated approach among all zonal offices to ensure these measures are implemented consistently across the city.
