Facebook and Messenger services began gradually returning for users in Bangladesh around 8:19 pm on Friday, after a global outage disrupted several Meta-owned platforms.

Some users regained access to the web and mobile versions of Facebook and Messenger, although problems including slow loading, timeline refresh failures, and messaging delays persisted.

The disruption was first reported at about 7:34 pm Bangladesh time, with error messages shown when users tried to log into Facebook via desktop. The app version was stuck on previously loaded pages for some users, and Messenger users were unexpectedly logged out.

Although initial reports suggested that Meta’s other platforms were operating normally, users later reported disruptions affecting Instagram, Threads, and some WhatsApp services. WhatsApp’s mobile app continued to work for many users, while some reported difficulties using its web version.

Meta spokesperson Andy Stone acknowledged the disruption in a post on X, saying the company was aware that users were having trouble accessing its services and was working to resolve the problem. Meta has not disclosed the cause of the outage at the time of writing.

Downdetector also briefly experienced problems as users rushed to check the status of Meta’s platforms. Reports later began to decline as some services recovered, although access remained inconsistent for many users.

As of 10:07 pm pm Bangladesh time, Facebook and Messenger appeared to be recovering gradually rather than returning to full operation. Meta has not yet announced when all services will be completely restored.
