Nazrul Islam, Dhaka correspondent of Deutsche Presse‑Agentur (dpa) and president of the Overseas Correspondents Association Bangladesh (OCAB), said that travel restriction on him has been withdrawn.

Nazrul, also a former president of Dhaka Reporters Unity, told The Daily Star that Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon personally informed him of the decision today, saying, “Now you can fly anywhere.”

On May 3, immigration authorities at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport prevented Nazrul from boarding a China Southern Airlines flight to Shanghai. He said that the incident was a violation of his fundamental right to freedom of movement and a breach of Article 13 of the International Human Rights Declaration.
