Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal has removed Abdus Rahim Bhuiyan, general secretary of its Dhaka city south unit, from his organisational post over alleged misconduct with security personnel.

The incident took place when Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s motorcade was leaving the grave of BNP founder and former president Ziaur Rahman after he paid homage there.

The decision was announced on Saturday in a press release signed by Chhatra Dal Office Secretary Md Jahangir Alam, who holds the rank of vice-president.

According to the press release, the central committee of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal relieved Abdus Rahim of his organisational post following specific allegations of breaching organisational discipline.

The organisation also appointed Rafiqul Islam Rafique, senior joint general secretary of the Dhaka city south unit, as acting general secretary.

The decision will take effect immediately to maintain organisational activities and continuity, the press release said.

Chhatra Dal President Rakibul Islam Rakib and General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir approved the decision on Saturday, it added.
