A worker died after construction material fell on his head while working on the seventh floor of an under-construction building in the capital’s Mohammadpur area on Friday.

The deceased is Md Rony,  28, a resident of Lakshmipur village of Shibganj police station in Chapainawabganj district.

Confirming the matter, Dhaka Medical College Hospital police outpost in-charge Md Faruk said that Rony was brought to the hospital, where on-duty doctors declared him dead at about 10:00am.

‘The body has been kept at the DMCH morgue for autopsy. The concerned police station has been informed,’ he added.

Rony’s colleague Abdur Rahman, who brought him to the hospital, said that Rony suffered a head injury while lifting welding materials from the ground floor to the seventh floor of the building next to Laboni Lake City in Arshinagar of Mohammadpur.

‘Later, we rescued him and took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where the doctor declared him dead,’ he said.

Rony was working as a labourer in the building and lived there, he added.
