A total of 430 Bangladeshis, who were stranded in Qatar due to the suspension of flights amid the recent conflict involving Iran and Israel, safely returned home this evening.

A special Qatar Airways flight carrying the passengers landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) at 7:10pm, airport's Executive Director Group Captain Ragib Samad told The Daily Star.

He added that the stranded Bangladeshis included both travellers in transit and embassy staffers.

"Since they were unable to return due to the flight cancellations, the Bangladesh government, in coordination with Qatari authorities, arranged this special flight to bring them back safely," he said.

As of today, over 390 flights have been cancelled at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport since February 28 due to Middle East airspace closures.
