Venezuela has been struck by two earthquakes of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS) and AFP journalists.
Powerful twin earthquakes killed at least 32 people and injured more than 700, interim president Delcy Rodriguez said on Thursday.
The country is under a state of emergency following the catastrophic, back-to-back earthquakes that struck the country's Caribbean coast. The rare "doublet" seismic event occurred during a national holiday, sending residents fleeing into the streets of the capital city, Caracas.
Below are photos showing the aftermath of the earthquakes.
