Conducting search operations, it says

Miscreants riding a motorbike shot Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Moncho and an aspiring candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency, at around 2:25 pm today in the capital's Bijoynagar Box Culvert area, according to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

In a press release, DMP strongly condemned the incident, describing the attack as "despicable and cowardly."

Upon receiving information, police rushed to the spot and carried out inspection. Law enforcement agencies are continuing efforts to identify and arrest those responsible by collecting and analysing CCTV footage from the surrounding area, said the release issued by Mohammad Talebur Rahman, deputy commissioner (Media and Public Relations Department) of the DMP.

Police have also launched search operations as part of the ongoing investigation, the statement added.

The DMP urged citizens not to panic and requested anyone with information related to the incident to contact the nearest police station or call the national emergency number, 999.

Reiterating its commitment to public safety, the DMP said it is working sincerely to maintain law and order in the city and to ensure the protection of lives and property.
