Kolkata actor Shataf Figar is making his Bangladeshi cinema debut with the upcoming Eid release “Rakkhosh”. Directed by Mehedi Hassan Hridoy, the film stars Siam Ahmed in the lead role, with Shataf playing the antagonist.
According to Indian media outlet Anandabazar, Shataf who is known for his work in Bengali and Bollywood films, was last seen in Arindam Sil’s “Mitin Masi”. He is now entering Dhallywood through “Rakkhosh”.
A major portion of the film was shot in Sri Lanka, where Shataf performed several action sequences with Siam Ahmed. During the shoot, he explored the local scenery and spent time with the team between takes.
Director Mehedi Hassan Hridoy and actor Siam Ahmed previously revealed that “Rakkhosh” combines both romance and action. They had mentioned casting a well-known actor from Kolkata and Mumbai for the villain’s role, though the name wasn’t officially announced at the time. It was later confirmed that Shataf Figar plays this character.
The film also marks the Bangladeshi cinema debut of actress Susmita Chatterjee, who appears opposite Siam Ahmed as the female lead.
On December 18, the film’s first look was released, showing Siam in a dramatically different avatar. Moving away from his romantic image, he appeared with a blood-stained face and intense expression. The striking visuals featured a white bathtub filled with blood containing a dead tiger, while Siam stood nearby in a white suit, holding a rose stem in his mouth, a Chinese axe in one hand, and a pistol in the other. The white room’s floor was splattered with blood, immediately establishing the film’s dark and violent tone. All eyes are now on how audiences will receive the pairing of Siam Ahmed and Shataf Figar when “Rakkhosh” releases this Eid.
