A fire broke out at a foam manufacturing factory near the capital’s Saddam Market of Kadamtali on Friday evening that left a member of the fire brigade injured.
The fire was brought under control by the efforts of five firefighting units of the Bangladesh Fire Service at about 9:00pm, said the fire officials.
Md Anwarul Islam, warehouse inspector at the Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters media cell, said that a firefighter, Kawsar Mia, was injured while dousing the fire at HN Foam and Mattress Industries.
Although he was not seriously injured, he was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, he added.
Five firefighting units brought the fire under control at 9:05pm, said Anwarul, adding that they were working to douse the fire.
Earlier, Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters deputy assistant director (media cell) Shahjahan Sikder said that the fire service received information about the fire at about 6:30pm and immediately dispatched a unit to the scene.
Later, additional units joined to support the initial response team, said Shahjahan, adding that the cause of the fire could not be known immediately.
