Following Arijit Singh’s recent decision to step away from new playback singing assignments, Shreya Ghoshal has revealed that she, too, has contemplated taking a break.
In an interview with ABP News, Shreya praised Arijit’s decision, calling it “very brave” to pause at the peak of a flourishing career. “I also feel like taking a break sometimes. He took that decision very bravely,” she said, adding that Arijit is “a musician from the heart” who creates music for passion rather than gain.
Shreya also spoke candidly about her stance on live performances. She firmly stated that she would never lip-sync on stage, emphasising that performing live is central to her identity as an artiste. “I feel very uncomfortable with that. I will stop singing the day I have to do that,” she said.

Highlighting the role of artistes in uplifting audiences, Shreya noted, “As entertainers, what we are going through personally should not show on stage. People come to us for music and inspiration. Music heals them and helps them escape from their problems.” She credited audience love and energy as her biggest source of motivation.
Despite acknowledging the occasional urge to take a break, Shreya continues to fulfill multiple professional commitments and remains active in the music industry.
