The government has appointed Krishak Dal central committee President Md Hasan Zarif Tuhin as chairman of the Barind Multipurpose Development Authority (BMDA) on a one-year contractual basis.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette notification on Tuesday, confirming his appointment with the status of a secretary.

According to the notification, the appointment will be subject to Tuhin severing any working relationship with other professions, businesses, or any government, semi-government, private institution, or organisation.

The appointment will take effect from the date of his joining, with other terms and conditions determined by the contract.

Tuhin contested the last national election from Pabna-3 as a BNP candidate but lost to a Jamaat nominee.
