The price of 22-carat gold jewellery has been raised by Tk 9,856 per bhori (11.664 grams), bringing the new price to Tk 232,930 per bhori, including VAT.
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring took the decision on price hike on Thursday. The information was announced in a statement signed by the committee's chairman, Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen.
The BAJUS said that the revised price came into effect at 10:00 am on Thursday.
The price of high-quality gold jewellery was previously increased by Tk 2,216 per bhori on July 31. As a result, the price of one bhori of high-quality gold jewellery has risen by a total of Tk 12,072 in two hikes.
Following the latest increase, the price of 21-carat gold jewellery has been raised by Tk 9,448 per bhori to Tk 222,491, while the price of 18-carat gold jewellery has increased by Tk 8,106 per bhori to Tk 191,056.
The price of traditional-method gold jewellery has also gone up by Tk 6,590 per bhori, bringing the new price to Tk 156,064 per bhori.
Earlier, effective from 10:00 am on July 31, the price of 22-carat gold jewellery increased by Tk 2,216 per bhori to Tk 223,074, including VAT.
The price of 21-carat gold jewellery was raised by Tk 2,100 per bhori to Tk 213,043.
The price of 18-carat gold jewellery was hiked by Tk 1,750 per bhori to Tk 182,950, while traditional-method gold jewellery was raised by Tk 1,458 per bhori to Tk 149,474.
Gold jewellery was sold at those rates until 9:59 am on Thursday.
The BAJUS further said that like gold jewellery, the prices of silver jewellery have also been revised, including VAT.
The price of 22-carat silver jewellery has been increased by Tk 292 per bhori to Tk 4,899.
The price of 21-carat silver jewellery has risen by Tk 292 per bhori to Tk 4,666, while the price of 18-carat silver jewellery has increased by Tk 233 per bhori to Tk 4,024.
The price of traditional-method silver jewellery has increased by Tk 175 per bhori, bringing the new price to Tk 3,033 per bhori.
