The government has sent former Detective Branch (DB) official Md Golam Saklain into forced retirement following misconduct allegations linked to his relationship with actress Pori Moni.

A notification issued today by the Ministry of Home Affairs confirmed the decision, stating that Saklain, currently serving as additional superintendent of police at the Jhenaidah In-Service Training Centre, was retired by order of the president.

The notice was signed by Senior Secretary Monjur Morshed Chowdhury of the ministry’s Discipline-2 branch.

The disciplinary action followed forensic analysis of mobile phone data, which reportedly revealed evidence of Saklain’s repeated visits to Pori Moni’s home at various times.

On June 13, 2024, the ministry’s Discipline-2 branch sought consultation on imposing forced retirement as a major punishment, later securing the opinion of the Public Service Commission before finalising the decision.

The connection between Saklain and Pori Moni dates back to June 13, 2021, when the actress filed a case alleging attempted rape and assault at the Boat Club in Savar. Businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmood was arrested the following day. Pori Moni met Saklain, then ADC of DB’s Gulshan Division, during questioning at the DB office.

Sources said Saklain subsequently began visiting the actress's home regularly, and the two were seen going out together.

Pori Moni later confessed to the relationship after her arrest on August 4, 2021.
