Anthropic has agreed to a six-year, $35 billion cloud computing deal with Lambda, a San Jose-based cloud provider backed by Nvidia, as the maker of the Claude AI assistant accelerates its push to lock in computing capacity ahead of an anticipated public offering.

The arrangement involves Lambda securing access to a data centre in Nueces County, Texas, being developed by Hut 8, a Bitcoin miner turned data centre operator. Nvidia, which has invested in both Anthropic and Lambda, will lease the facility from Hut 8, with Lambda then paying Nvidia for access to the site in order to deploy chips and supply computing resources to Anthropic. The financial terms of that arrangement between Lambda and Nvidia have not been disclosed.

The deal follows a separate $45 billion agreement Anthropic recently signed with Nscale, a London-based cloud provider also backed by Nvidia, for capacity at a facility in West Virginia. Taken together with earlier commitments made this year, Anthropic's total computing deals in 2026 amount to at least $135 billion.

In April, Amazon announced that Anthropic had committed to spending more than $100 billion on Amazon Web Services over the next decade. A further $30 billion commitment to Microsoft Azure and a $10 billion agreement with Volta Infra Holdings, a separate Nvidia-backed facility in Norway, have also been reported.

Anthropic is building out its infrastructure at a significant pace as it competes with OpenAI for enterprise customers and revenue, with both companies widely expected to file for initial public offerings in the months ahead. Demand for chips and advanced computing power has risen sharply across the AI industry, placing strain on global supply chains and contributing to price increases in consumer electronics.
