Two Dhaka University Central Students’ Union leaders were assaulted in front of Shahbagh police station in the capital on Thursday evening.

Zubair Bin Nesary (also known as A B Zubair), DUCSU social welfare secretary; and Musaddiq Ali Ibne Mohammad, literature and cultural affairs secretary; were allegedly beaten by a group of Chhatra Dal activists.

Islami Chhatra Shibir claimed that leaders and activists of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal carried out the attack, an allegation the latter did not immediately respond to.

Police later rescued Zubair and Musaddiq and took them to the office of the officer-in-charge of Shahbagh police station.
