The police on Thursday morning arrested four suspected activists of the Awami League, the activities of which are now banned, and its affiliated organisations for their alleged involvement in exploding crude bombs during a flash procession in the capital’s Mohakhali area.
Activists of Jubo League, youth wing of Awami League, also brought out a separate flash procession in front of Ganabhaban and Dhaka Residential Model College.

They were arrested from a flash procession at Mohakhali bus terminal area, said Tejgaon industrial area police station inspector (investigation) Md Badal Gomosta, adding that about six crude bombs were exploded during the procession.
According to the police, about 10 to 15 Awami League activists brought out a flash procession near the Mohakhali bus terminal at about 9:00am demanding withdrawal of the ban on AL activities, which has been imposed since May 2025.
Filing a case under the Anti-Terrorism Act and the Explosive Substances Act regarding the incident was under way, said inspector Badal.
Meanwhile, about 40 to 50 activists of Jubo League brought out a procession in front of Dhaka Residential Model College at about 10:00am and dispersed after reaching Ganabhaban before fleeing the scene.
Although the officer-in-charges of Mohammadpur and Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police stations confirmed the procession, each of them claimed that it happened under the jurisdiction of the other.
